Marble

Name:Marble
Sex: Spayed Female
Age: ~ 5
Description: Slim, Short-Haired Dilute Tortie
Personality: Extremely affectionate, quiet, timid, scared of other cats
Other: Traumatized kitty with very special needs

Marble was dropped off at a dog pound in Fitchburg, where she was placed in a small wire cage on top of an occupied dog kennel, in a space shared by over 20 loud pit bulls. She spent over 2 1/2 YEARS there amidst all of the terror, with minimal human contact (she was unjustly called “Evil”). She was finally rescued from the situation and brought to the CARE Adoption Office, where her long road to recovery began.

Marble was emaciated, dehydrated, and had poor fur and skin quality when she first arrived at CARE, but those physical ailments did not even compare to her emotional state. She was in utter shock, with barely any will to live. She was terrified of other cats, and would hiss at them as though they were about to eat her alive. She had no appetite, and would eat and drink just enough to keep herself alive. Days would go by where we would not see anything in her litter box. Marble was literally wasting away. Despite all of this, however, Marble took well to human affection. The only time she ever came alive was when someone would give her extra love, at which point she would roll over on her back, purr, and start kneading and pawing at her soft bed.

With a lot of time, love, and effort by CARE volunteers, Marble has come a long way. She looks like a completely different cat. She has filled up a bit with her new found appetite, is now well hydrated, and has an even, smooth coat. She now shows expressions on her face, and no longer has cold, dead eyes. Slowly and steadily, she is becoming a little bit more active.

Marble desperately needs a patient and loving forever home, where she can feel completely safe and finish her transformation into a cat who knows that it is okay to solicit the love and attention she so craves. Seeing Marble in a cage instead of a permanent home breaks all of our hearts. She is absolutely the sweetest cat in the world, and she is going to require a lot of work initially, but we can almost guarantee that adopting and rehabilitating Marble will be the most rewarding experience.
